About Madame Chandelier

Madame Chandelier is a critically acclaimed cabaret character, developed and performed by Canadian opera singer and comedian Delea Shand. She’s appeared on the comedy streaming network, Next Up, for her performance at the Chortle Fast Fringe, at Leicester Square Theatre. She has performed at Underbelly Boulevard Soho, Soho Theatre, Phoenix Arts Club, Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Duckie, ACMS, Bill Murray, The Glory, Poodle Club, and more.

She’s performed four solo shows, as the “infectiously bonkers” (Ben Walters, The Scotsman) character, Madame Chandelier: Madame Chandelier Saves Opera, Madame Chandelier’s Opera Party for Kids, Madame Chandelier’s Opera House Party, and Madame Chandelier’s Rough Guide to the Opera.

She is currently developing a new family show, Madame Chandelier’s Grand Theft Opera, which re-imagines elements of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute as a video game.

madame chandelier’s Grand theft opera

When Madame Chandelier’s daughter gets sucked into her video game and is kidnapped by the evil Queen of the Night, there’s only one thing to do – gather opera’s fiercest characters for an epic battle. Will Carmen, Tosca, and Madame Butterfly help defeat the ultimate boss, or will all arias lead to death? “Expert Timing” **** The Observer “Madame Chandelier could be the ticket that opens up opera to new audiences” **** Broadway Baby “Infectiously bonkers” **** The Scotsman
