"So what exactly do you sing?" It's a question I get asked a lot when I say I sing Contemporary Music. Mostly it means new music that is grounded in classical or traditional composition techniques and probably pushing the boundaries of what came before. Why do I sing new music? Because we already know Mozart is good, but that's because we've been listening to him for 250 years. New Music, on the other hand, needs to be performed and listened to and experimented with and championed so we can decide together where this evolving art form is going. That's why I believe in promoting and performing new music. I've sung music for solo voice and small vocal ensemble; new operas; lots of new music for voice and piano; and (most fun of all) chamber music, which is a small ensemble of instruments. I've also sung traditional opera, art song, oratorio, choral music, and musical theatre. This page has lots of links to recordings, videos, and composer websites.
